Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit a Technical Waste Assessor for an established environmental services business based in Middlesbrough.
This role plays a key part in assessing, classifying and routing waste streams, ensuring compliance and supporting customers with accurate technical guidance.
Main duties will include
- Assessing waste enquiries and gathering all required information, including MSDS and samples
- Interpreting technical data to identify correct treatment or disposal routes, including costs and caveats
- Producing accurate quotes and managing the customer journey from enquiry through to booking and invoicing
- Inputting all required information into internal systems for quoting, transport and acceptance
- Understanding site processing capabilities to ensure correct routing of waste
- Generating consignment notes and Environment Agency returns
- Communicating with customers regarding quotes, scheduling and non‑conformances
- Working closely with Sales, Customer Service and Operations to ensure smooth communication
- Advising on transport, labelling and consignment note requirements
- Ensuring all waste quotes comply with site permits and waste management licences
To be considered, applicants should have
- Degree in Chemistry or related subject (minimum HNC)
- Strong IT skills and confidence using bespoke systems
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Willingness to learn, develop and contribute to team goals
- Knowledge of WM3 and ability to classify waste
- Understanding of ADR regulations for waste transport
- Working knowledge of waste treatment plants, transfer stations or transport operations
- Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Strong numeracy and understanding of business costing
