What this role is all about:

VitalityLife is looking for a standout life underwriter to play a key role in shaping and advancing our High Net Worth (HNW) proposition, strengthening our reputation for underwriting excellence and innovation. In this high‑profile opportunity, you’ll bring your life underwriting expertise to assess complex cases with confidence and precision, delivering exceptional financial and medical outcomes while acting as a trusted partner to brokers and advisers to keep major cases moving. You’ll work closely with reinsurers to secure successful placements, collaborate with sales teams to design tailored financial solutions, and share your knowledge across the business to build understanding of HNW underwriting. While experience in high net worth is advantageous, what’s most important is a strong foundation in life underwriting, so if you’ve built solid experience and are ready to step into a more specialised space, we’d love to hear from you. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also support and develop others, champion continuous improvement, and help evolve our proposition so VitalityLife continues to lead the market with credibility, expertise and forward‑thinking delivery.

Key actions:

• Underwrite complex High Net Worth (HNW) cases to the highest financial and medical standards, ensuring accuracy, quality, and excellent client outcomes.
• Partner closely with brokers and advisers to guide large cases smoothly through the underwriting journey, offering clarity, confidence, and expert support.
• Collaborate with reinsurers to secure successful placement of business and maintain strong, credible working relationships.
• Work with sales teams to develop tailored financial underwriting solutions for key clients and unique case requirements.
• Educate and upskill internal sales teams on the HNW underwriting process to ensure consistency, understanding, and strong case management.
• Mentor and support less experienced underwriters, contributing to a high‑performing and collaborative underwriting function.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and evolve the HNW underwriting proposition, helping shape a market‑leading offering.

• Extensive experience life underwriting
• The confidence and credibility to build strong relationships with advisers, brokers, and reinsurers.
• A solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to tackle complex problems and think creatively about risk.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, able to guide stakeholders through challenging decisions or cases.
• Proven ability to mentor others and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Comfort working independently and making informed decisions, while also collaborating effectively across teams.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the organisational skills required to manage high‑value cases with precision.
