Are you mechanically minded with experience operating press machinery in a manufacturing environment? We're looking for a reliable and motivated Press Machine Operator to join a busy production team manufacturing high-quality metal components.
This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a long-term role with a well-established Christchurch manufacturer that values precision, quality, and teamwork.

About the Role
As a Press Machine Operator, you'll be responsible for producing quality components using a range of workshop machinery. You'll work from technical drawings and job instructions, ensuring all products are manufactured accurately and efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate flywheel presses using hard tooling
  • Operate drill presses and saws
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions
  • Carry out quality inspections to ensure components meet specifications
  • Perform basic machine adjustments and routine maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
  • Work closely with the production team to meet daily production targets
About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing quality products, and has a strong mechanical aptitude.
Ideally, you'll have:
  • Previous experience operating press machines or similar manufacturing equipment
  • Experience setting up flywheel presses and hard tooling (highly regarded)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Reliable attendance and a positive attitude
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work in a busy manufacturing environment
Experience in metal fabrication or engineering manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate with transferable machine operating experience.
