IP Semiconductor Service Engineer needed for on-site support of new equipment installations and maintenance at various European-based customer sites. Semiconductor Service engineers repair, service and optimise Canon’s semiconductor machines at customer sites. The engineer will be required to work on various kinds of Canon semiconductor equipment and work with customers to maintain uptime of busy production equipment. Interaction with customers is essential in the job, so a positive outlook and flexible approach are required. Travel to various European sites will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Service - To provide service support to customers in line with service guidelines and good practice including carrying out machine inspection on site, machine testing and quality checking, machine repairs, fault diagnosis and ordering parts as necessary and providing any follow-up support as appropriate in order to meet customers’ needs.
  • Installation - To install machines on site in line with installation guidelines, completing all necessary equipment receipt and inspection activities, completing the assembly, fine-tuning to specification and carrying out qualification/optimisation in line with customer requirements.
  • Administration - To provide general service administration in line with customer requirements. Completion of technical reports and documentation. Provide telephone and email support to customers. Order tools/parts as required and ensure compliance with all H&S regulations.
  • Training - To provide more formal training to customers as required.
  • Specialist Service work - To undertake specialised service work, replacing specific units in accordance with guidelines and specifications. Work with Theta Z units, projection lens, X-Y stage and OPTF replacements. Maintain specialist knowledge in line with best practice. Maintain and improve technical know-how of self and colleagues within a rapidly changing technological environment. Study service reports and technical documentation. Maintain awareness of software upgrades and attending relevant training courses. Ensure knowledge and skill levels are maintained to a high level in order to best meet customer technical requirements.
  • Canon Brand Ambassador & Customer key contact - To advise customers on a broad range of technical issues and act as spokesperson for Canon. To resolve technical problems raised by customers with other engineers. Liaison with Operations Manager, Japan or Amsterdam, in order to ensure customers’ requirements are fully satisfied. To provide technical support and advice to both customers and Canon personnel during installation and other service activities. An amount of foreign travel is a key part of the role and is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • High standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills
  • Electrical or electronic background for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Mechanical skills advantageous
  • Computer literate with a good competence of standard software including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good interpersonal skills and a flexible approach
  • Proven employment track record
  • Clean driving licence
  • Non-essential skills that would be advantageous: Previous lithography experience would be beneficial
