Boyd are a global leader providing bespoke thermal management solutions to major electronics OEMs in the telecommunication, medical, military, aerospace and space markets. A highly motivated individual is required to join the advanced technology group, to support the development and commissioning of pilot scale manufacturing and test equipment, and also the design of the thermal products, targeted at space applications.
Key Duties:
- To support the development of process methodology and process equipment, required to manufacture future thermal technologies.
- Develop engineering designs, construct, commission and test novel process equipment and test equipment.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external organisations, to ensure the successful development and qualification of new processes and thermal products.
- Project management of development activities.
- Support commercial projects to exploit the new capability and ensure alignment with commercial requirements.
- Support R&D commercial projects and collaborative R&D projects.
- Liaise with manufacturing engineers and technicians to manufacture and test prototypes for customer applications and research projects.
- Liaise with Manufacturing Engineers and the Production Department to ensure that any processes introduced align with internal processes.
- Provide problem solving support to other departments.
Requirements:
- Process knowledge and experience in any of the following essential: automated welding, fluid/gas control and dispensing, electrical control systems, data acquisition and evaluation.
- R&D / Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering background (3 years experience).
- Experience of 3D Modelling/2D Drawings.
- BEng / MEng qualified, or HNC with high level of experience.
- Experience in development of new process equipment and procedures.
- Experience in development of products.
- Experience in verification and qualification testing to ISO standards (or equivalent).
- Analytical skills and test report writing ability.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Confident individual, capable of working from own initiative.
- Work effectively as part of a team and possess good communication skills.
Desirable:
- SolidWorks skill set.
- Test/thermal test experience.
- Experience in working with vacuum systems.
