An established and growing accountancy practice in Bridgend is looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join their friendly and supportive team. You will be responsible for overseeing VAT compliance across a varied client portfolio, working closely with a junior team member to ensure VAT returns are prepared accurately and submitted on time. Alongside this, you will be involved in the preparation of year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, self-assessment tax returns, and supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting requirements. This is a varied hybrid role that would suit someone who enjoys working directly with clients, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, and is looking to join a business during an exciting period of growth.
The Role
- Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Support and work alongside a junior team member within the VAT function
- Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies
- Prepare corporation tax computations and returns
- Prepare self-assessment tax returns
- Respond to client queries and provide ongoing support
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and reconciliations where required
- Work across a range of software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
About you
- At least 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice
- Strong VAT knowledge and practical experience
- Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
- Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A proactive and client-focused approach
