About the Role
This role focuses on building and deploying AI‑powered agents and automation solutions that deliver measurable improvements such as time savings, error reduction, and faster response times.
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy single‑purpose Copilot agents using approved templates (e. g., knowledge Q&A, triage, drafting support, task guidance) and integrate with approved data sources for Microsoft365.
- Implement department‑specific automation workflows using Power Platform for identified business processes.
- Configure chatbots and virtual assistants for straightforward citizen service interactions, working within the council‑wide chatbot strategy.
- Support user adoption through creating simple user guides, release notes, and adoption communications; run demos and clinics; capture feedback and feed into improvements.
- Test and maintain deployed Copilot solutions, resolving routine issues and implementing minor improvements.
- Monitor performance, reliability, and adoption; use analytics to propose improvements and retire/replace low‑value solutions.
- Collaborate with individual business teams to understand specific departmental requirements.
- Work within established technical standards and development frameworks.
- Participate in knowledge sharing and continuous development activities.
- Escalate complex technical issues and architectural decisions to senior team members.
- Apply information governance, data protection, security, and responsible‑AI controls when designing prompts/agents, connectors, and automations; ensure appropriate approvals and documentation.
Fluency Duty : You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public. The Fluency Duty for this role is required.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 1 year’s experience with creating Microsoft Copilot agents.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with advanced Microsoft Power Platform, including custom connectors and advanced workflows.
- Minimum 1 year’s scripting experience (e. g., Power Shell, Python or similar).
- Experience with Microsoft365 and basic system administration.
- Basic understanding of AI/ML technologies.
- Ability to analyse straightforward business processes and configure solutions.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for routine technical challenges.
- Good communication skills for user support and requirement gathering.
- Ability to work within defined technical standards, change control, and information governance requirements.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships across multiple business areas and strategic recommendations.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in public sector digital transformation or large organisation change programmes, and understanding of local government processes and regulatory requirements.
- Professional qualifications in advanced AI agent development, enterprise architecture, project management, or related technical areas.
- Knowledge of Azure cloud services and enterprise integration patterns, including Azure AI Engineering and Foundry.
- Experience setting up enterprise security, governance, and compliance requirements and their application.
- Experience working with and setting up environments and pipelines, using Dev Ops principles.
