How will you make a difference?
Responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure the efficient overhaul of engines, transmissions and Power Packs for passenger rail customers. This role involves coordinating with multiple departments to optimise workflow, ensure timely delivery, and maintain high‑quality standards.
Note: The successful candidate will be required to spend approximately 4–5 months at our Doncaster site to gain hands‑on training and support the transfer of work to our Barton site, located just outside Burton upon Trent.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and optimise production schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Ensure materials, equipment and workforce are available for production activities.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address delays or issues.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to support the Planning Manager.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Communicate effectively with production, warehouse and sales teams.
- Analyse production data and trends to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between planned and actual production and implement corrective actions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise processes.
- Support new bids and industrialisation process as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in production planning, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production processes and supply chain management.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Proficiency in production planning software and tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
