Bid Manager in Chorley

Bid Manager in Chorley

Chorley Full-Time No working from home possible
V

An established multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Bid Manager to support the continued growth of its Infrastructure business.

Working closely with one of the Directors, this is an opportunity to take real ownership of the bid and work-winning function across Infrastructure. You'll be involved from the early stages of identifying and shaping opportunities through to submission, interview and ultimately securing new frameworks and commissions.

This isn't a role focused purely on coordinating tender submissions. The business wants someone who can look at what's currently in place and help take it forward - improving how opportunities are approached, strengthening the quality and consistency of submissions and helping the business better communicate its experience and capabilities.

There is genuine scope to put your own stamp on the function. That could include refreshing bid collateral and templates, improving the bid portal and content library, introducing and updating policies and processes, and working with the wider team to develop a more consistent approach to presenting and selling the business.

The Role

You'll work closely with the Director, senior leadership, technical teams and marketing to manage infrastructure bids and framework opportunities from initial enquiry through to submission and interview.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing infrastructure bids, tenders and framework submissions from initial opportunity through to completion
  • Working directly with the Director to identify opportunities and shape the approach to key bids and frameworks
  • Developing bid strategies, key messages and winning themes
  • Producing and coordinating high-quality bid packs, proposals and presentations
  • Working with technical and commercial teams to turn project information into clear, compelling responses
  • Writing, reviewing and editing bid content
  • Coordinating case studies, project information, CVs, policies and supporting documentation
  • Working alongside marketing to improve the presentation, branding and consistency of bid material
  • Reviewing and developing the existing bid portal and content library
  • Identifying gaps in existing collateral and introducing new policies, templates and standard responses where required
  • Managing submission programmes, deadlines, actions and internal contributions
  • Ensuring bids meet client requirements, internal governance and submission criteria
  • Preparing senior and technical teams for client interviews and presentations
  • Attending bid interviews where appropriate and helping communicate the business's proposition effectively
  • Supporting the business in targeting and securing new frameworks and long-term infrastructure opportunities
  • Reviewing feedback and lessons learned to continually improve future submissions

About You

We're looking for an experienced Bid Manager who can take ownership of bids and framework submissions across the Infrastructure division.

You'll be supporting bids for the consultancy's commercial and cost management services, working closely with the Director and wider technical teams to understand their experience, projects and capabilities and translate these into strong, compelling submissions.

Experience within the construction, engineering, infrastructure or professional services sectors would be ideal, particularly if you've worked on complex framework or consultancy bids.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Previous experience supporting or managing bids, tenders or framework submissions
  • An understanding of the construction or infrastructure market
  • Strong written communication and the ability to turn technical information into engaging bid content
  • Confidence working directly with Directors, senior leadership and technical specialists
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage several contributors and deadlines
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a strong, credible proposition
  • Confidence presenting, supporting interviews and helping teams articulate why clients should appoint the business
  • A proactive approach - someone who can identify what needs improving and take ownership of making it happen

Why Join?

The attraction of this position is the level of ownership, exposure and influence it offers.

You'll be working closely with one of the Directors rather than sitting within a large, heavily structured bid team, giving you direct involvement in how the business approaches work winning and develops its Infrastructure pipeline.

Rather than stepping into a rigid function with established ways of doing everything, you'll have the opportunity to review what's currently in place and help shape what comes next - from the branding and presentation of bids through to the systems, policies and processes behind them.

It's a chance to make the role your own and have a visible impact on the frameworks and commissions the business secures as its Infrastructure offering continues to grow.

The position will be predominantly remote, with flexibility to work from home alongside occasional days at the Chorley office, as well as attendance at client meetings or bid interviews when required.
