Are you competent in performing manual and automated testing on electronic hardware? I'm supporting a Colchester‑based engineering team who are looking for a Contract Hardware Automation Test Engineer to join them on a 6‑month contract. You'll be hands‑on in the lab, testing embedded hardware using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other bench equipment. Once the manual test approach is understood, you'll help automate it - and investigate any failures when tests don't behave as expected. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical lab work, debugging, and building smarter, automated ways to validate hardware.
What you'll be doing:
- Performing manual testing on embedded hardware systems
- Using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and standard lab equipment
- Designing and implementing automated test methods
- Investigating test failures and identifying root causes
- Working closely with embedded engineers to understand system behaviour
- Documenting test procedures, results, and automation steps
