Purpose
An opportunity has arisen for a Security & Emergency Response professional to join the Security Team at UTAC Millbrook as a Security Officer. The successful role holder will be responsible for maintaining high standards of performance, discipline, appearance and possess a proactive approach to security. Due to the size and variety of the responsibilities of the role, this is not a “normal” security role and therefore presents additional challenges and opportunities within the security industry. The shift pattern for this role is 4 on 4 off, consisting of 12 hour shifts working in rotation of 2 day shifts (06:30 – 18:30) and 2 night shifts (18:30 - 06:30).
Responsibilities
- Protection of Company premises, assets & personnel by means of site entrance control and mobile patrols across an extensive and varied site.
- Providing administrative support as required.
- Providing Emergency Response cover to the site, using relevant equipment including breathing apparatus, fire hoses, hydraulic rescue tools and participate in regular training.
- Front of House duties including welcoming guests & providing a positive guest experience.
- Monitoring & authorising entrance & departure of employees, guests & other persons to guard against theft & maintain physical security of premises and information security of UTAC.
- Conducting searches of personnel & vehicles.
- Completing reports of daily activities & irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorised persons or unusual occurrences.
- Inspection & adjustment of security systems, equipment & machinery to ensure operational use & to detect evidence of tampering.
- Provide response to all fire and building alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Providing cover of main switchboard & Radio/Track Control responsibilities during non-standard hours.
- Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC colleagues at all times.
Qualifications
- Good standard of education.
- SIA Licence preferred not mandatory.
- First Aid at Work Certificate preferred but not mandatory as training will be provided.
- Professional Firefighting qualification or experience an advantage.
Experience
- Previous security role.
- Experienced in a customer-focused role.
Skills
- Fire related background / knowledge or experience would be an advantage.
- A good knowledge of IT using Microsoft Office packages.
- Experience and knowledge of customer care.
- A confident approach & ability to deal with difficult/confrontational people.
- The ability to work with technical equipment (e.g. CCTV & Radios).
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to display leadership within the team and organisation.

- You must have full colour vision.
- Excellent level of physical fitness and able to complete Chester Step Test.
- Flexibility to travel as and when required.
- Full UK driving licence & own transport (UTAC is not easily accessible via public transport).
- SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years).
- Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check.
