This is an opportunity to begin or develop a career in financial-services policy while working on issues central to the future of the UK’s capital markets. You will support the team’s research, analysis, member engagement and policy development, helping turn complex material into clear, accurate and useful outputs.

You do not need to arrive as a capital-markets expert. We are looking for strong analytical ability, confidence with drafting and document preparation, intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in how policy, regulation and markets interact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyse policy, regulatory and market developments, drawing out the points most relevant to UK Finance members.
  • Prepare clear and professional meeting papers, briefings, presentations, member updates, minutes and action notes.
  • Support consultation responses, policy papers, the preparation of members’ briefs and meeting packs, and thought-leadership projects through research, drafting and careful document management.
  • Help organise member committees, working groups and roundtables, including agendas, papers, logistics and timely follow-up.
  • Maintain trackers, workplans, and other materials that help the team manage priorities and deliver projects effectively.
  • Build constructive relationships with colleagues and member firms and engage professionally with external stakeholders.
  • Turn technical material into accessible messages for non-specialist audiences.
  • Contribute flexibly across the team as priorities and opportunities develop.

What are we looking for

  • A keen interest in capital markets, financial services and public policy, and enthusiasm for building technical knowledge.
  • Exceptional ability to process substantial volumes of information, identify the important points and swiftly produce polished, professional documentation.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability, with curiosity and the confidence to ask good questions.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and dependable approach, including knowing when to work independently and when to seek guidance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels.
  • A degree, equivalent qualification or evidence of degree-level critical thinking. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant professional experience gained through different routes.
  • Clear, accurate drafting and confidence using Word and PowerPoint and sound working knowledge across Microsoft Office applications.
