About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical / Electrical Technician to join a Field Service Team based in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-profile and demanding military environment, supporting Naval taskings primarily in the Portsmouth area, with occasional travel to other UK sites as required.

You will play a key role within the Field Service team, supporting a range of Naval vessels and contributing to additional projects across the Industry, Marine, and Offshore sectors. Reporting to the Field Service Engineering Manager, you will be a pivotal member of the Portsmouth team, ensuring the smooth and professional delivery of all associated processes and tasks. You will work both on-site and aboard customer vessels, supporting installation, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair activities.

  • Comply with all Company and Customer EHS policies and procedures.
  • Follow defined procedures to build, refurbish, or repair power conversion equipment sub-assemblies.
  • Inspect supplied equipment prior to delivery, in storage, and following installation.
  • Carry out planned maintenance before, during, and after commissioning.
  • Attend customer vessels to conduct planned maintenance and assist Field Engineers with breakdowns.
  • Perform panel wiring modifications, remedial works, and upgrade installations on supplied equipment.
  • Support commissioning engineers during installation and testing activities.
  • Maintain the operability of the Portsmouth facility, including workshop management, tools, parts, spares, and vehicles.

Experience in electrical and/or mechanical engineering (NVQ 3 Qualified or equivalent). Full, UK driving licence. Currently hold or be eligible to obtain MoD Security Clearance. Exposure to diverse marine, offshore, and industrial projects. Professional development and training opportunities.
