About the role
Join the team at our Ebbsfleet office in Kent as our new Compliance Manager, specialising in passive fire protection. In this pivotal role within our multi-disciplinary construction, demolition, and asbestos group, you will work closely with a collaborative and forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering excellence and upholding the highest safety standards across our diverse portfolio of projects.
As our technical lead in this area, you will oversee compliance across our passive fire protection operations, ensuring that all work aligns with current UK fire safety regulations. Your key responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive fire stopping surveys, identifying compartmentation breaches, and driving adherence to industry accreditation standards, including FIRAS.

Key responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all passive fire protection measures comply with current UK fire safety regulations, including Approved Document B and BS 9999.
Fire Doors and Fire Stopping: Oversee and manage the installation, inspection, quality and maintenance of fire doors and fire stopping systems.
Accreditations Management: Work closely with accreditation bodies such as FIRAS to maintain and achieve necessary certifications.
Fire Stopping Surveys and Fire Door Surveys: Conduct comprehensive fire stopping and fire door surveys, identifying compartmentation breaches and recommending appropriate remediation.
Training and Development: Provide training to staff and clients on fire safety regulations and passive fire protection best practices.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all inspections, surveys, and compliance activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
Fire Protection Apps: Utilise fire stopping apps such as Bolster, Onetrace, and Boris for documentation and reporting.
Client Liaison: Engage with clients to provide expert advice on fire safety compliance and passive fire protection strategies.
What we're looking for
Required Skills and Experience:
Qualifications: FPA training, NVQ in a relevant field, or other similar qualifications. A FIDAS qualification is highly desirable.
Experience: Extensive experience in passive fire protection.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of up-to-date fire safety regulations, including Approved Document B, BS 9999, and relevant industry standards.
Accreditation Experience: Proven experience working with BM TRADA or FIRAS, understanding how these accreditations operate.
Surveying Skills: Experience in fire door surveying and identifying compartmentation breaches.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with fire stopping apps like Bolster, Onetrace, and Boris. Proficiency in creating plan drawings using recognised software.
Reporting: Ability to produce compliance reports for stakeholders that identifying any issues that are found at survey stage.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
Driving License: A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to various client sites.
Professional Memberships: Membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE).
Continual Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry advancements.
Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
