Support Complex Laboratory Projects with Real-World Impact. Join Tetra Tech as a Project Coordinator and become a key link between clients, laboratory teams and analytical project delivery at our Bedford laboratory.
Purpose and Scope of the Role
This full-time, permanent role supports the delivery of specialist laboratory projects across sectors including water, utilities, agrochemical, defence, food, feed and forage crops. Working within a respected team of analysts, chemists and technicians, you will help coordinate client enquiries, project information, sample media orders and subcontracted results through our Laboratory Information Management System. You will act as a primary point of contact for ongoing projects, ensuring client requirements are understood, work is logged accurately, progress updates are communicated clearly, and any delays or issues are escalated promptly.
Our Bedford laboratory has a strong technical reputation and was one of the first in the UK to gain UKAS accreditation for PFAS analysis following monitoring requirements at the Buncefield oil terminal.
Your Impact in this Position
In the short term, you will help maintain smooth communication between clients, sales and laboratory colleagues, supporting accurate project set-up and timely delivery. As your knowledge grows, you will contribute to tailored analytical programmes that help clients meet regulatory obligations, quality standards, maximum residue limits and environmental requirements. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to develop wider project coordination, client management and commercial awareness skills, with exposure to technically complex laboratory work and specialist analytical services.
Core Capabilities
- Client Coordination: Provide responsive, professional support to clients, understanding requirements and keeping them informed throughout project delivery.
- Project Administration: Review submitted work, confirm accurate logging, manage project information and maintain clear records within LIMS and related systems.
- Laboratory Collaboration: Liaise effectively with laboratory staff and sales colleagues to resolve issues, manage expectations and support smooth workflow.
- Attention to Detail: Work accurately in a fast-paced technical environment, identifying inconsistencies and ensuring client instructions are followed.
- Communication and Prioritisation: Balance competing tasks, communicate clearly by telephone and email, and work independently while contributing to team objectives.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
You should have an interest in science, ideally supported by relevant qualifications, alongside strong administration, customer service and organisational skills. Experience in a fast-paced environment, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are important. Experience in a laboratory, client-facing role, project coordination or LIMS environment would be advantageous. Previous project management experience, supporting team workloads, working with a support desk, or identifying chargeable activity would also be desirable.
Work Patterns and Location
This is a full-time, permanent role based at Tetra Tech’s Bedford laboratory. The role is primarily laboratory-office based due to the need for close collaboration with technical teams.
