Our London-based European Debt Advisory team is expanding, and we are looking for a talented and ambitious individual at Senior Consultant level with an advisory, banking or chartered accountancy background to join our growing team in London. You will work alongside some of the most experienced practitioners in the field advising the Boards, Management teams and shareholders of companies which are looking to optimise their capital structures or finance acquisitions, with a specific focus on the UK, France, the Benelux, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.
Our European Debt Advisory practice, which already employs more than 25 people focused on DACH, assists companies with raising or refinancing debt. Our key differentiator is our holistic approach of the capital structure, our independence, and the depth of our lenders/investors network. Our flexible approach means you will be presented with a diverse selection of transactions, ensuring you develop a varied transaction skill set. Recent transaction types include acquisition financings, growth capital, capital structure optimisation, stressed refinancings, asset-based lending, covenant resets, etc. We also work closely with our leading pan-European restructuring franchise and are seamlessly linked into the wider Teneo network across multiple jurisdictions.
As a Manager (Senior Associate), you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of engagements across all sectors, with responsibility for taking a major part in the day-to-day deal execution including presentations drafting, financial modelling, “comparables” computation, and other analytical tasks supporting the more senior members of the team with origination, business development initiatives, and market monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a central part in the production of slide decks and financial models as well as the process management of debt advisory mandates.
- Providing support to the rest of the team in managing the transaction process.
- Supporting Management teams in preparing and challenging business plans.
- Developing financing options under the scrutiny of more senior team members.
- Taking part in the preliminary steps of term sheets drafting.
- Actively support business development activities.
- Support execution of marketing initiatives aimed at specific channels to market, or events.
- Support wider FA training initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience
- Entrepreneurial and team player.
- Robust financial modelling experience gained either as an advisor within a professional services company, consultancy, investment bank or as an analyst in a debt or special situations fund.
- Good understanding of the characteristics of debt markets, banking, loan agreements and financial covenants.
- Good understanding of the financial marketplace, its trends and key players (principals and advisers).
- Very strong analytical skills, including cash flows and financing options.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and evidence of supporting teams in difficult situations.
- Commitment and willingness to work under pressure, sometimes long hours, always putting the client first.
- Flexibility to transfer skills into complementary offerings such as Restructuring or Turnaround and Performance Improvement if market conditions change.
- Ambition to learn and develop further.
- Impeccable command of spoken and written English.
- Fluency in French, Dutch, Spanish or Italian is a significant differentiating factor for the role.
