  • Carry out comprehensive site surveys and document existing system conditions through dilapidation reports

  • Develop compliant electronic security system designs including CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Detection and PIDS for CNI environments

  • Oversee physical security design production, coordinating with subcontractors on measures such as fencing and access barriers

  • Prepare detailed proposals, technical specifications, cost breakdowns and system schematics

  • Generate layout plans, elevations and wiring diagrams using tools such as Visio, AutoCAD or Bluebeam

  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical data and project pricing

  • Contribute technical expertise, drawings and estimates to support tender and bid submissions

  • Collaborate across departments to align designs with operational delivery and project requirements

  • Take charge of your workload and deadlines, determining how designs are delivered

  • Utilise digital surveying tools including iAuditor for documentation and asset management

  • Participate in innovation discussions and lessons learned sessions to drive continuous improvement

  • Represent the design function in client meetings and project planning as a technical specialist

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience designing electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Detection, PIDS) for industrial or complex environments

  • Capability to assess operational and physical security vulnerabilities during surveys and recommend design solutions

  • Working knowledge of relevant NSI and British Standards including BS EN 62676 and 50131

  • Understanding of CNI or regulated utility environments and their specific security requirements

  • Commercial mindset to balance technical solutions with budget constraints and risk management

  • Strong communication skills across all stakeholder levels

  • Experience collaborating with Sales, Projects, Engineering and Compliance teams

  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals and system integration concepts

  • Competence producing specifications, schematics, drawings and cost estimates

  • Proficiency with CAD and diagramming software such as AutoCAD, Visio or Bluebeam

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Self-motivated approach with ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects

  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable qualifications and experience include formal engineering qualifications (electrical, electronic or security systems), FIA unit qualifications in fire detection and alarm system design, experience designing integrated security and physical security measures, trained CAD designer status with BIM knowledge, digital surveying tool experience, utilities or infrastructure sector background, tender submission design experience, GDPR awareness in security design contexts, ECS card certification, and at least two years in a similar position.
