Home based with Regional Travel £50k -£55k + Commission + Car Allowance

I’m currently representing a highly respected UK specialist in electrical control system design, manufacture, installation, and management, operating across premium residential and commercial projects. With strong expertise in Electrical Control Panels and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), the business is experiencing sustained growth and is looking to appoint a technically strong Business Development Manager.

The Opportunity

This role is ideally suited to someone who began their career in an electrical engineering, controls, or BMS background and has transitioned into a client-facing or commercial position. The focus is not just selling — but understanding, advising, and adding technical value at early design and specification stage. You will be responsible for developing new opportunities across:

  • Electrical control panels
  • BEMS / BMS solutions
  • Integrated building control systems
  • Commercial and high-end residential developments

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with consultants and contractors at specification stage
  • Review drawings, schematics, and technical submissions
  • Provide solution-led input alongside internal engineering teams
  • Identify and secure new project opportunities
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from enquiry to contract award
  • Build long-term relationships within the building services sector

Ideal Background

  • Previous experience in one of the below:
  • Electrical control panels
  • BEMS / BMS
  • Building automation
  • LV distribution or controls
  • Strong electrical understanding (HNC/HND/Degree or apprenticeship background advantageous)
  • Comfortable interpreting schematics and technical documentation
  • Commercially aware but technically credible
  • Able to communicate confidently with engineers and decision-makers alike
