About the role

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager - Technology, the successful Buyer - Compliance & Governance Lead will be responsible for reviewing, approving and reporting on operational buying activities, ensuring alignment with Tarmac Buying Policy. The Buyer is required to manage procurement compliance and engage with a range of stakeholders across operational and functional teams. You will undertake the delivery of tactical sourcing activity for local business spend opportunities in Tarmac aligning with procurement category strategies for Tarmac and CRH.

Please note this role will comprise of around 65-70% compliance and governance, so please apply only if you have the compliance and governance experience and are willing to carry out such a role.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you as the successful Buyer - Compliance & Governance Lead will be carrying out a range of activities which will include supporting sourcing requirements and contract compliance. Furthermore, your role will comprise of the following duties and responsibilities (not exhaustive):

  • Managing transactional buying desk activities and supporting wider strategic category management
  • Approving and reviewing purchase requisitions
  • Working on the management of supplier accreditation
  • Supporting local category sourcing that continuously improves suppliers and contractors compliance with Safety, Health & Environment and Corporate & Social Responsibility standards
  • Working closely with category managers and business units to establish and deliver procurement requirements
  • Working on purchase card data & reporting
  • Ensuring products and services are purchased in the most cost and time-efficient manner, delivering agile solutions to implement and ensure purchasing best practices
  • Evaluating, retendering, renegotiating or extending contracts and suppliers in order to facilitate tactical and strategic sourcing with relevant stakeholders
  • Deliver additional value to Tarmac operational buying activities
  • Monitoring and challenging non-compliant buying activities

Please note that this position is for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Buyer - Compliance & Governance Lead who is in possession of the following skills/attributes:

  • Ideally educated to degree level in a business or technical discipline
  • Ideally MCIPS qualified
  • Experience in tactical/operational buying
  • Ideally experienced in category management
  • Experience in multiple industry sectors considered a plus
