Our client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join their team in Birmingham. This is a key role supporting managers across the business with a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring cases are handled efficiently, compliantly, and with a strong commercial focus. This opportunity would suit someone with solid ER experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and has a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
What you'll be doing:
- Manage a diverse caseload of employee relations matters including (but not limited to) long-term sickness, disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, capability, client removal, and occupational health referrals.
- Provide timely, accurate, and commercially sound advice to managers, considering both business needs and legal risks.
- Ensure cases are progressed efficiently in line with SLAs, maintaining accurate records in HR case management systems.
- Identify and escalate high-risk or complex cases, highlighting trends and potential management capability gaps.
- Support with drafting and reviewing correspondence, including investigation, disciplinary, and outcome letters.
- Review case documentation and advise on best practice and procedural compliance.
- Coach and guide managers to confidently handle ER matters and make informed decisions.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, delivering a high-quality internal customer experience.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum 2 years' experience advising on employee relations issues, including complex cases such as dismissal and discrimination.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.
- A customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- CIPD qualification (Level 3/5 or working towards) is desirable.
