About the role

Registered Managers role: £45,000 per annum, small unit in Abergavenny.

Suppleo Healthcare are currently working with a national children's and younger adults provider and are looking for a registered children's home manager to help run a small unit in Abergavenny. My client's ethos is that they believe every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and loved. They guide and support children to help them reach their full potential and develop skills for adulthood.

We are seeking a positive, dedicated, and experienced Registered Home Manager to oversee accommodation, care, and support for Children in Looked After Care aged 11-17 years old. The ideal candidate will be passionate about transforming lives, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and have a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and staff in your care.

This role involves:

  • Working closely to our Statement of Purpose and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements while creating a life-changing environment for our young people.
  • Management of day-to-day operations within the care home, always ensuring the welfare of staff and children.
  • Building a safe, positive, and preventative environment, in which staff and children are heard, understood, and supported.
  • Ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements, including our Statement of Purpose.
  • Leading the senior and residential care team; setting work rotas, providing supervision and coaching, ensuring all training is attained, and ensuring high-quality care is delivered consistently.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing individual care plans tailored to each child's needs, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Fostering an empowering environment for children, encouraging their participation in decisions and activities that involve them and relate to their personal growth.
  • Ensuring the highest level of safety for staff and children at all times.
  • Collaborating with Local Authority and Healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies to coordinate care effectively.
  • Monitoring the wellbeing of children in the facility, addressing any concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Continuously improving the way in which our Home operates, to maximise best outcomes for staff and opportunities for children.

Minimum requirements:

  • 2 years management experience within Children's home care, Social Work, Nursing home, or Assisted living setting (Essential).
  • Strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices (Essential).
  • Strong knowledge of care regulations and medication administration protocols.
  • Experience of building a culture of Positive Behaviour Management and/or other best practices in CYP care environments (Essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively while promoting a positive workplace culture (Proven experience in medication administration within a care home or nursing home environment) (Essential).
  • Experience in working with and delivering to Care Plans (Essential).
  • Build a positive workplace culture that encourages teamwork, professional development, and high standards of care (Essential).
  • Experience of working with young people with physical, sensory, or learning disabilities, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (Desirable).
  • Ensure effective communication with residents and external agencies regarding care services and resident needs (Desirable).
  • Assessment of resident health and well-being, making necessary adjustments to care plans as required (Desirable).
  • Maintain accurate records of resident care, staff performance, and facility operations (Essential).
