Opportunities in Fibre

Job Purpose: To assist the Operational team, undertaking day to day job requirements of FTTH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Company with leading testing potential fibre routes and installing fibre infrastructure in underground networks.
  • Overhead and Underground Cabling Experience.
  • Preparing cable sheath to enter Closure’s (External Connection Box).
  • Dressing the fibre and closing the Closure (External Connection Box).
  • Splicing within loss limits.
  • Supporting restraining and labelling of trays and cables.
  • Disposing of scrap fibres and cable safely.
  • To be confident in reading and understanding the test results for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Strong communication skills are absolutely essential; ability to communicate between co-workers and third parties.

Education/Qualifications:

  • NRSWA unit 2.
  • Open reach accredited pole certification.
  • Experience Advantageous (Overhead and Underground) SA001, SA002.
  • Demonstrable experience with a proven track record working within customers' homes delivering FTTH.
  • Advanced knowledge of FTTP and FTTH technologies.
  • Sound ability to diagnose problems with existing equipment and fix faults up to resolution.
  • Ability to communicate fluently with customers and should possess good customer service skills.

Engineers must be confident at working at height, weight under 120kg (H&S remit for Working at Height).
