A leading UK-based last-mile logistics services business is seeking a results-driven Fleet Operations Manager to lead its nationwide vehicle fleet operations. This pivotal role oversees the management, optimisation, and strategic development of a 600-vehicle fleet across c. 20 depots, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a national fleet team to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
- Ensure all vehicles meet legal, regulatory, and internal safety standards.
- Develop and improve supplier management, ensuring the best relationship for the greatest value.
- Take ownership of fleet policy, vehicle procurement strategy, service schedules, and telematics utilisation.
- Proactively identify and implement fleet process improvements to drive down operating costs and reduce downtime.
- Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability across fleet operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven track record managing large fleets or operations in a fast-paced, multi-site, industrial or logistics environment.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities, with experience overseeing remote or distributed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and improve fleet performance metrics, including compliance and cost-efficiency.
- Experienced in implementing systems, telematics, and continuous improvement processes across operations.
- Knowledge of transport regulations, maintenance planning, and procurement best practices.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
