Network Security Engineer / Consultant

Full-Time On-site
S

The Role

We are looking for a Network Security Engineer / Consultant to join our growing team.

We are interested in speaking with people operating at Engineer through Consultant level, and the exact scope of the position can be shaped around the experience and capabilities of the right person.

The role will involve designing, deploying, securing and supporting network infrastructure for our managed service and project-based customers.

Our core networking and security platform is Fortinet, but we are equally interested in candidates with strong networking and firewall fundamentals gained through other enterprise vendors.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your experience, responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Designing and deploying secure LAN, WAN and wireless networks.
  • Deploying and managing next-generation firewalls.
  • Configuring routing, switching, VLANs and network segmentation.
  • Designing and supporting site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions.
  • Designing and implementing SD-WAN solutions.
  • Deploying and managing wired and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting complex network and security issues.
  • Reviewing customer network configurations and identifying security or resilience improvements.
  • Supporting firewall policy design and security rule reviews.
  • Implementing secure remote-access and Zero Trust network solutions.
  • Supporting client network migrations, office deployments and infrastructure refresh projects.
  • Managing and supporting geographically distributed customer environments.
  • Contributing to technical designs, proposals, implementation plans and documentation.
  • Providing escalation support for managed service customers.
  • Working directly with customer technical teams and third-party providers.
  • Participating in client technical reviews and explaining recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technologies

Our core environment includes technologies such as:

  • Fortinet FortiGate.
  • FortiSwitch.
  • FortiAP.
  • FortiManager.
  • FortiAnalyzer.
  • FortiSASE.
  • SD-WAN.
  • Secure remote access.
  • LAN and WLAN.
  • Routing and switching.
  • Network segmentation.
  • VPN technologies.

Experience with Cisco and/or HPE Aruba would also be advantageous.

While Fortinet experience is desirable, it is not essential. We would be very interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong experience with other enterprise firewall platforms such as:

  • Palo Alto Networks.
  • Cisco.
  • Check Point.
  • Sophos.
  • Juniper.

Strong networking and security fundamentals are more important to us than experience with one specific vendor.

What We're Looking For

We would ideally like candidates to have 3+ years of relevant industry experience, although we are more interested in technical ability, judgement and practical experience than a specific number of years.

You should have experience in several of the following:

  • Enterprise network engineering.
  • Firewall administration and deployment.
  • Routing and switching.
  • Network segmentation.
  • VLAN design.
  • VPN technologies.
  • Wireless networking.
  • Network troubleshooting.
  • Network security.
  • High availability and resilient network design.
  • SD-WAN.
  • Managed network environments.
  • Customer-facing technical delivery.

Experience working within an MSP, MSSP, systems integrator or consulting environment would be particularly valuable.

Certifications

Relevant technical certifications are advantageous but not essential as we would welcome candidates with demonstrable practical experience and a proven track record.

Relevant certifications could include Fortinet, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Aruba, Palo Alto Networks or equivalent networking and security qualifications.

The Person

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems and is comfortable taking ownership of technical issues from initial investigation through to resolution.

You should have strong networking fundamentals and be able to understand not just how a network is configured, but why it has been designed in a particular way and what its security implications are.

Because we are a relatively close-knit team, you will have regular direct contact with customers and will need to communicate clearly, document your work and work effectively with other engineers, consultants and third-party providers.

You do not need to know every technology in our stack when you join. Strong fundamentals and the ability to learn are more important.

Why Join Enso?

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work with leading organisations across the Channel Islands.
  • Support globally distributed customer environments.
  • Work on both project delivery and long-term managed network environments.
  • Gain hands-on experience across enterprise networking, firewalls, SD-WAN, SASE and secure wireless.
  • Work with modern Fortinet, Cisco, Aruba and other enterprise technologies.
  • Work directly with senior engineers, consultants, customers and Enso's leadership team.
  • Develop your engineering and consulting capabilities.
