We are recruiting for one of the UK's fastest-growing specialist conveyancing firms, that is focused on continued investment in technology, people and training. The firm generates its own work, allowing Fee Earners to focus on delivering excellent client service rather than business development.

This position is ideal for a Senior Conveyancer, Conveyancing Team Leader, Technical Conveyancer or former Head of Conveyancing with over 10 years’ experience in the industry that is looking to use their expertise in a broader leadership role, with extensive conveyancing experience, who wants to step away from managing a permanent caseload and instead use their expertise to develop colleagues, improve technical standards and support operational performance across the business.

You will work closely with Directors and the Senior Legal Team, providing technical leadership, coaching Fee Earners, auditing legal work and stepping into live caseloads when required. This is not a traditional fee-earning role, and you will not carry a permanent caseload.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing Fee Earners Residential Conveyancing knowledge and expertise.
  • Support and mentor newly appointed Fee Earners.
  • Review “live” and completed files during induction and probation.
  • Assess technical competence and identify training needs.
  • Sign off key stages of transactions where appropriate.
  • Deliver one-to-one training to help colleagues become confident and independent conveyancers.

Quality Assurance & Training:

  • Work with existing Fee Earners where improvements are needed by:
    • Auditing files and identifying legal or procedural risks.
    • Providing practical coaching and technical guidance.
    • Identifying technical problems and assisting in providing workable solutions.
    • Supporting improvements in file quality, legal knowledge, client care and overall performance.
    • Reporting progress to senior management.

This is a hands-on role focused on helping colleagues improve rather than simply identifying problems.

Caseload Support:

  • When operational pressures arise, you will:
    • Step into live residential conveyancing caseloads.
    • Prioritise urgent matters.
    • Handle exchanges and completions.
    • Support clients during periods of absence or increased workload.
    • Stabilise files until they can be returned or redistributed.

Technical Resource/Knowledge Base:

You will provide guidance across all areas of residential conveyancing, including:

  • Freehold and leasehold transactions
  • Sales and purchases
  • Remortgages
  • Transfers of equity
  • New-build properties
  • Unregistered titles
  • Complex title issues
  • Restrictions and covenants
  • AML and Source of Funds
  • Higher-risk conveyancing matters

A dedicated Post Completion Team deals with SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.

Experience:

  • Extensive residential conveyancing experience (ideally 15+ years)
  • Fee earner, with the knowledge to provide guidance and training to other Fee Earners.
  • Good experience of the code of conduct for the regulator.
  • Experience independently managing a full conveyancing caseload.
  • Previous experience of training staff would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • The ability to identify legal and operational risks quickly.
  • A genuine interest in coaching and developing others.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to work autonomously and support senior management.
  • CLC, CILEX or Solicitor qualification is desirable but not essential where significant practical experience can be demonstrated.
