About the role

Our

Team: The SERDES Networking Solutions (SNS) team within NXP develops transceivers for in‑vehicle networking (IVN) with data rates from 2Gbs to 16Gbps.

These transceivers deploy sophisticated analog and digital design to provide video, audio, control and Ethernet connectivity within the vehicle.

We are looking for a Principal Digital Design Engineer to join our team of engineers who define and implement new capabilities for our transceivers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to design, implement, and support in‑vehicle networking devices as part of NXP’s Automotive product line.
  • Manage day‑to‑day performance of junior engineering team members.
  • Define block requirements and architecture, optimizing for area, power, and timing; implement functional safety requirements; and coordinate with verification and validation teams to comply with automotive design processes.
  • Documentation: Create robust design documentation to clearly communicate design intent to team members.
  • Implementation: Implement design intent in System Verilog or Chisel.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Architecture, digital and analog design, DV, and validation teams to ensure timely delivery of quality products.

Qualifications

  • B. S./M. S. Electrical/Computer Engineering (or similar degrees).
  • Experience as a chip lead, architect, or subsystem lead in leading digital design teams to meet design parameters.
  • Proven track record of multiple successful tape‑outs covering the complete chip design lifecycle in industry.
  • Experience in silicon design, including synthesis, static timing closure, and DFT.
  • Fluency in System Verilog or VHDL and an object‑oriented software language.
  • Expertise desired in Ethernet networking, automotive design processes, embedded ARM or RISC‑V processors, and Chisel.
  • Hands‑on experience in debug and silicon bring‑up.
