VolkerStevin is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a site-based project in the Ambleside area. The permanent role reports to the Commercial Lead and takes responsibility for commercial and contractual matters on the allocated site. It may include managing an assistant surveyor.
On larger projects, the work can cover particular sections under a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor.
Duties include:
- project forecasting
- cost and value reporting
- procurement
- cash-flow monitoring
The surveyor will advise the site team on contract requirements and action notices to protect the business's contractual position.
Subcontract responsibilities include:
- defining scope
- measuring work
- reviewing supporting account records
Monthly valuations and commercial reports must be produced on time, with subcontract payments based on accurate assessments. The role also involves monitoring scope risks and participating in contractual programming matters. The employer asks for quantity-surveying experience and experience with NEC contracts.
Major civil engineering or infrastructure experience is advantageous. A relevant quantity-surveying or commercial-management degree and an RICS-accredited course are stated requirements. Applications are encouraged even where experience does not match every listed requirement.
