SailGP is the world’s most exciting racing on water. The annual, global championship features national teams battling in short, intense races at iconic stadium-style venues across the globe. SailGP Technologies is seeking a dynamic and motivated 3-axis CNC Router Programmer/Operator. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high performance team based at our facility in Southampton. The role will report into our Design Lead.
The successful candidate will be responsible for 2 & 3 Axis composite machining and design to completion of fixtures & wooden jigs required for the state of the art F50 foiling catamarans. You will be accountable for every stage of the manufacturing process, including inspection and stock control. Our facility is home to a 3-Axis Pegasus ATC Router, three Mazak CNC machines, CMS ARES 5-Axis Machining Centre, plus manual lathes/milling and TIG welding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming, setting and running of the Pegasus ATC 3 Axis Router
- Design & Modelling of tooling / jigs
- Specify tooling, work holding and fixturing
- Adhere to quality control checks to ensure all parts produced are 100% correct and inline with design
- Drive CAD programs
- Organisation and stock control of all tools and materials
- Carry out machine maintenance as required
- Components are machined in low volume quantities and at times, components will require complex problem solving
- Finishing processes, including the trimming and breaking out of parts, assembly of the cut components, delivery to required area in the workshop
- General shop floor productions support
- Ability to understand technical drawings
- Manage workflow and output to stay inline with production deadlines
- Takes ownership of progress and results with little managerial oversight
Key Expectations/Experience:
- Experience with CAM Software as a programmer/Setter/Operator on a 3 axis router or similar
- Experience in Fusion 360 is desirable
- Demonstrable and relevant experience with machining in a modern manufacturing environment
- Experience with CAD, manual machine tools, woodworking equipment or composite machining is desirable
