We are seeking an experienced Building Safety Consultant for Higher-Risk Buildings to join our team, where you'll play an essential role in focusing on compliance requirements of the UK Building Safety Act, including managing and mitigating risks associated with high-rise buildings. This role has become of increasing importance due to industry changes associated with the Building Safety Act.

The ideal candidate will already hold experience in building safety, building surveying, or CDM, and be ready to apply that expertise from day one. You will take ownership of safety assessments, compliance tasks, and ongoing safety management for high-rise and multi-occupancy residential buildings, working as a key member of an established team.

We are a growing bespoke consultancy offering comprehensive health, safety, fire, and project management services to residential clients, with a focus on supporting High-Rise Residential Buildings. We specialize in ensuring the safety and compliance of purpose-built blocks of flats, providing a high standard of support and expertise to our clients.

As part of our team, you will bring in-depth knowledge of fire safety and building safety standards, working alongside dedicated professionals to deliver the highest standards of compliance and safety for our clients.

  • Safety Case Report Preparation: Lead the drafting and updating of safety case reports, ensuring that each building has a comprehensive record of safety procedures, risk assessments, and compliance measures.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and documentation related to building safety, including reports, maintenance logs, fire risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct on-site visits and inspections, applying sound knowledge of key building safety elements such as fire doors, emergency exits, and structural components.
  • Communications with residents, building owners, and facility teams, ensuring all parties are informed of safety measures, requirements, and any upcoming inspections or improvements.
  • Risk and Gap Analysis: Conduct risk assessments and gap analyses to identify areas that need improvement to comply with Building Safety Act requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the UK Building Safety Act and related safety regulations to ensure your work and recommendations align with the latest standards and requirements.
  • Comprehensive Training: Support for continuing professional development (CPD), including funding for relevant qualifications and sector-specific training to keep you at the forefront of the industry.

  • Experience in Building Safety and Compliance: Proven, demonstrable experience in building safety, regulatory compliance, and/or property management.
  • Building Surveying or CDM Experience: Experience in building surveying or Construction Design and Management (CDM) is required.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to support accurate documentation and maintain high standards in safety assessments and reporting.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to various stakeholders, including building residents and property managers.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, with a focus on supporting multiple building projects effectively.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency with Outlook, MS Office (Word, Excel) and willingness to learn industry-specific software tools for documentation and reporting.
  • A background in building surveying, fire safety, construction management, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of the Gateway 2 process under the Building Safety Act. Experience working on Gateway 2 submissions or supporting Higher-Risk Building applications would be a distinct advantage.
