The company:

Our client is one of the UK’s largest property services contractors, with a national network of regional branches and a directly employed workforce. They deliver planned works, maintenance, retrofit, fire safety and decorating services across social housing, education, healthcare, local authority and commercial sectors. They’re known for investing in their people and growing their own talent.

The role:

Our client is looking for a Surveyor to join their East Midlands branch, which mainly delivers planned works programmes for social housing clients: kitchen, bathroom, roofing, and window and door replacements. You’ll manage the commercial side of your own contracts, supported by a strong, experienced local team.

Our client is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. If you have solid surveying skills from new build, refurbishment, maintenance or another sector, they’ll help you get up to speed with planned works. They’d also be pleased to hear from strong Assistant Surveyors or junior Surveyors who are ready to step up.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the commercial side of planned works contracts
  • Measuring and valuing work, and preparing applications for payment
  • Pricing and agreeing variations against schedules of rates
  • Producing cost reports and forecasts
  • Placing orders and valuing subcontractor and supplier accounts
  • Agreeing final accounts with clients
  • Working closely with contract managers, site teams and clients
  • Visiting sites and occupied homes to measure and check work

What we’re looking for:

  • QS or Surveyor experience with a contractor, or an Assistant Surveyor ready for the next step
  • Planned works, maintenance or social housing experience is an advantage, but not essential
  • Good measurement and valuation skills
  • Confident with Excel and comfortable with numbers
  • Organised, with good attention to detail
  • A good communicator and team player
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence

What’s on offer:

  • Up to £55,000 depending on experience
  • Full support from an experienced branch team
  • Training and clear progression within a large national business
  • Long-term stability and a strong pipeline of planned works
