About the role

What We Are Looking For

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be focusing on preventing defects and improving processes.

Your primary role will be to identify and investigate Production and Engineering issues, making sure a root cause analysis, containment and countermeasures have been implemented and are effective.

Liaising with Supplier Quality Engineers to return non-conforming components to suppliers and, when necessary, providing feedback on any issues to Production or engineering teams.

Previous or current experience supervising a small team would be advantageous.

The ability to monitor KPIs and report weekly to the quality manager.

You will be required to communicate your findings to all levels of the business, to a high standard and show a good understanding and use of quality methodologies.

As part of the Quality department, you will be required on occasion to perform Final inspections of finished goods, First Article Inspections, create certificates of conformity, and, in some cases, communicate with and host a representative from Government Quality Assurance (GQA) and customers.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for improvement and waste reduction.
  • Lead problem‑solving sessions with multidisciplinary teams across the organisation.
  • Document and investigate issues in a responsive manner.
  • Plan and monitor corrective actions to ensure deployment in a controlled, traceable approach.
  • Drive the development and implementation of preventative actions.
  • Investigate and formally report on high‑profile issues.
  • Liaise with product owners to raise the profile of high‑priority engineering requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to define manufacturing acceptance criteria and test/inspection methods in advance of release to production.
  • Produce, review and amend process documentation such as work and test instructions.
  • Support with the auditing of internal processes.
  • Support with the inspection of inbound and outbound goods when required.
  • Monitor organisational activities to ensure alignment with applicable statutory and regulatory legislation.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills
  • Proven experience in a role with quality‑based responsibilities.
  • Proven record of implementing process improvements, quality control procedures and compliance initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of technical data such as engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Strong understanding of quality principles and tools such as process mapping, statistical quality control, Pareto, lean manufacturing, kaizen, 8D reporting.
  • Familiarity with Design & development.
  • Familiarity with the ISO9001:2015 standard.
  • Experience in the manufacture of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Strong PC and MS Office skills.
  • Familiarity with Test and Inspection equipment is valuable.
  • Supervisory experience advantageous.

  • Clear and professional communication skills to effectively convey technical findings to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work constructively with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to resolve quality‑related challenges.
  • Self‑directed with a strong sense of ownership for delivering timely and accurate outcomes.
  • Analytical mindset, able to approach complex quality problems with structured reasoning and appropriate methodologies.
  • Capable of facilitating collaborative problem‑solving sessions to drive root cause identification and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Able to adapt communication and working style to suit varied contexts such as audits, investigations, or technical reviews.
