About the role

We are currently hiring a .NET Developer for an exciting client engagement.

Role: .NET Developer

Location: Taunton, UK (3 days' travel per month)

Positions: Contract (Outside IR35)

Clearance: Active SC Clearance Mandatory

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale Azure-based applications within a secure and highly regulated environment. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in C#, .NET, Azure, and cloud-native development practices. The Senior Software Developer will work closely with Lead Developers, Architects, DevOps Engineers, Testers, and Product Owners to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions while contributing to engineering excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Build high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions using C# and modern .NET technologies.
  • Implement features and enhancements in accordance with functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Contribute to cloud-native solution development following established architectural patterns.
  • Participate in code reviews and implement feedback to maintain coding standards and best practices.
  • Utilize Git and GitHub-based workflows for source code management.
  • Leverage GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Collaborate with Lead Developers, Architects, Product Owners, Testers, and DevOps Engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support development of automated unit tests.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across development, test, and production environments.
  • Maintain technical documentation within SharePoint, Wiki, Git, or other approved repositories.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for continuous improvement of engineering practices and development processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with C# and modern .NET (.NET Framework / .NET Core / .NET).
  • Good experience developing applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Azure PaaS services such as: App Services, Azure Functions, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Azure Key Vault.
  • Experience implementing REST APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience working with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools.
  • Good understanding of cloud-native application design principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
