About the role

Attendance Officer Required for Secondary School in Wakefield - September 2026 Start

Prospero Teaching are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Wakefield who are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join their pastoral team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who is passionate about improving student outcomes through excellent attendance and safeguarding practices.

The successful candidate will work closely with KS3 and KS4 students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote high levels of attendance and punctuality across the school.

The Role

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality records.
  • Contacting parents/carers regarding student absences.
  • Identifying attendance concerns and implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance data and producing reports.
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral staff, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders.
  • Supporting students and families to overcome barriers to attendance.
  • Arranging meetings with parents/carers.
