Got a psychology degree and want real, hands on experience with children before your next step? Principal Education works with specialist schools across West London that use Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behaviour to support children with ASD. They’re looking for psychology graduates to join their teams as SEN Teaching Assistants, and they’ll train you in ABA from day one. It’s one of the best ways to put your degree into practice. You’ll see behaviour theory working in real classrooms, collect real data, and build the experience that clinical psychology courses, assistant psychologist roles and BCBA training all look for.

What you’ll do:

  • Work one to one and in small groups with children with ASD
  • Deliver ABA programmes set by the school’s supervisors, including teaching through play
  • Record each child’s progress so the team can see what’s working
  • Support communication, independence and emotional regulation
  • Help with personal care where needed, always with dignity

What you’ll need:

  • A degree in Psychology, or a related subject such as Behavioural Science, Education or Child Development
  • Warmth, energy and patience with children
  • The initiative to get stuck in without waiting to be asked
  • Experience with children (paid or volunteering) is a plus, but not essential
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one (we’ll help)
  • The right to work in the UK

What you’ll get:

  • Full ABA training from experienced supervisors
  • Monday to Friday, school hours, with school holidays off
  • Long term placements, with the chance to go permanent
  • A real route towards assistant psychologist, RBT or BCBA training
  • A consultant who works only in SEN, meets everyone in person and supports you from day one

Principal Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All roles are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references and right to work checks. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of background.
