Our client is a highly respected specialist contractor delivering infrastructure, highways, drainage, groundworks and civil engineering projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team at their Romford, Essex office.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced commercial professionals, gain hands-on project experience, and build a long-term career within a supportive and growing business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working as part of the commercial team, you'll assist with the financial and contractual management of a variety of civil engineering projects, including:
  • Preparing client valuations and applications for payment
  • Assisting with project cost reporting and financial analysis
  • Supporting tendering and estimating activities
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining commercial records
  • Assisting with contract administration and commercial management
  • Supporting risk and opportunity reviews
  • Providing commercial support to operational project teams
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills with a positive, proactive attitude
  • Construction or Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent) desirable
  • Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, utilities or groundworks is advantageous but not essential
  • A genuine desire to develop a career in Quantity Surveying
