This role oversees the smooth running of our Newcastle depot, ensuring targets are met and employees are managed. Taking responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the depot whilst meeting/exceeding all customer expectations, whilst adhering to all internal processes and procedures. Working safely is part of the PPG way, and it is the Depot Manager's responsibility to ensure the depot complies with all H&S regulations and operates in a safe manner.
Responsibilities:
- Build effective teams
- Communicates clear goals and roles to team members
- Ensures team has the right mix of skills and leverages the strengths of individual members
- Rewards team efforts and accomplishments
- Effective and proactive inventory management including slow and obsolete products
- Competent with HR processes and people management including recruitment of new employment
- Responsible for ensuring as a minimum requirement that all service level agreements for national & major local accounts must be always met
- Ensures KPI’s are set for all team members, monitors performance and puts corrective plans in place to address underperformance
- Responsible for ensuring company vehicles are maintained, safe, fully compliant to UK road laws and secure
- Monitor and act on driver behaviour using in vehicle telematics

- Monitors progress of performance and changes approach accordingly
- Takes ownership of teams and own work, follows through on commitments
- Independently anticipates and meets customer needs
- Searches for ways to improve customer performance, uses customer insights to drive innovation
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong people management skills, ability to manage a small team and delegate effectively where necessary
- Effective use of staff resource across the Depot depending on business needs at the time
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Competent I.T skills including the use of Office 360, WMS, CRM, and ERP systems
- Proactive with a positive approach to challenges
- Self-motivated and ability to motivate others to achieve common goals
- Able to engage with business objectives and contribute to the wider strategy
- Must be prepared to take overall ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the Depot
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Operational experience – ideally 5 years or equivalent in paint/non-paint to Bodyshop End users/distributors
- Sales or customer management experience
- Understanding of coatings business is preferable
- People management qualification/previous experience
- Stock processes/Inventory management
- Strong leadership skills
- Financial, Operational & EHS compliant
- Computer literate
- Warehousing (picking/packing)
- Planning/transport experience including route planning
- EHS & Sustainability
- Valid clean driving licence
