Salary: £38,052.19
Working Hours: Thursday – Monday with varying start times on days and nights.

What will this role achieve? As leaders in our industry, we provide transport solutions for the UK&I Region of pladis and work as a 3rd party distributor for key customers. It is, therefore, crucial that we maintain our high standards. Drivers must operate legally, safely and ensure they portray a smart image, as they are the most direct contact with our customers. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual for a HGV Class One Driver at Manchester. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced distribution environment being integral to the team in distribution of chocolate and pladis finished products within the network. It is for this reason that we provide drivers with smart uniforms, relevant PPE and expect them to keep their vehicles in a condition in keeping with our dedication to safety and quality. On the road we expect our drivers to conduct themselves in a professional manner showing courtesy and good manners to all road users.
What will be your key deliverables?
- Undertake vehicle checks prior to leaving the depot and where needed at 3rd party locations.
- Refuel, wash and report any defects on return to the site.
- Complete all relevant documentation as required, e.g. delivery notes, pallet notes, offload notes, defect reports.
- Communicate any delays, rejected orders, discrepancies to the confirmations department.
- Follow legislation ensuring drivers hours and vehicle maintenance are adhered to and conform with operator licence requirements.
- Drive in a professional manner, abide by the law and the highway code and with due regard to the safety of self and others in order to minimise accidents and vehicle damage and to promote a professional company image.
- Report all accidents and near misses.
- Maintain the security of the vehicle and load at all times.
- Undertake shunting duties at factories and on-site as required.
Bring your experience
Essential: The successful applicant will work as part of a dynamic team and be able to perform the various roles required. They must have a ‘can do’ attitude and positive approach and help maintain the high standards required in the role.

Desirable: All training will be provided as part of your induction – previous experience is not essential.
What does the recruitment process consist of?
- Assessments – Workplace English assessment followed by a Driving Assessment. This could take 2-3 hours.
- Interview – 30 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience. If you’re an internal member of staff you may not be required to complete the assessment.
