Role Purpose:

  • The primary purpose of the role is to ensure materials are available to support production plans through effective use of MRP, supplier management and inventory control.
  • To maintain accurate inventory records and appropriate stock holdings for ingredients and packaging materials, minimising waste, write-offs and working capital whilst ensuring service levels are maintained.
  • To support the wider Supply Chain function through cross-functional collaboration, project support, operational cover and continuous improvement activities, ensuring continuity of service across the department.

Main tasks:

  • Manage material supply plans across ingredients, packaging and sundry materials to support production requirements.
  • Review and action MRP outputs, exception messages and material shortages to maintain material availability.
  • Maintain MRP planning parameters and material master data within SAP.
  • Monitor supplier performance and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) arrangements, escalating issues and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Create purchase requisitions and manage the purchasing process through to delivery and invoice resolution.
  • Monitor inventory levels, warehouse capacity and stock holdings to balance material availability with inventory targets.
  • Investigate material and packaging discrepancies, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) projects, including material planning and coordination of Bill of Material (BOM) changes.
  • Attend material review and write-off meetings, providing accurate inventory and planning information.
  • Complete packaging traceability audits and maintain compliance with site standards.
  • Produce planning and inventory reports to support operational decision-making and performance reviews.
  • Provide cover and support for other Supply Chain activities, including transport ordering, Carlisle WIP planning and pallet ordering when required.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • Management of material availability to support production plans and customer service requirements.
  • Maintenance of MRP planning parameters, material master data and system integrity within SAP.
  • Management of inventory levels to balance material availability, stockholding and working capital targets.
  • Management of supplier performance and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) arrangements to achieve agreed service levels.
  • Identification and mitigation of material supply risks to minimise disruption to production.
  • Support of successful product launches through effective material planning and coordination of material changes.
  • Maintenance of packaging traceability, stock control and inventory accuracy standards.
  • Development of effective working relationships with suppliers and key internal stakeholders.
  • Support of Supply Chain continuity through cross-functional working and operational cover.

Qualifications/certificates/Experience:

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of SAP, preferably within MRP and Materials Planning processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Warehouse management systems experience.
  • Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
