Role: Relief Mixing Machine Operator (6 months secondment)

Salary: TBC

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm, alternate weeks

Location: Carlisle, 54 Church Street, Cumbria, CA2 5TG

What will this role achieve? Your main responsibility is to work as part of a team in the packing and feeding of biscuits. When required, you will stand in as a Mixing Machine Operator. Mixing Machine Operators ensure the area is safe, they follow mix specifications, and work well in a team. The role requires a ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to maintaining high production standards whilst working as part of a dynamic team. Must want to progress within your team as you will be trained to step into the permanent role when needed. Will move lines across the factory as and when.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Manually pack products within specifications (includes bending, lifting, stretching)
  • Visually check for foreign matter / hazards
  • Ensure quality of biscuits packed is within product specifications
  • Ensure adherence to all quality and safety standards.
  • Work to a high standard, enabling plants to achieve planned output.
  • Report any problems to Supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness and meet hygiene standards.
  • Support the Supervisors in the introduction and support of any improvement initiatives.
  • Provide a co-ordinated link with all production processes on the line.

Mixing Machine Operator responsibilities:

  • Report any problems to the Team Manager/ATM
  • To operate all dough mixers in each zone.
  • Make dough the correct way and ensure there’s enough during the shift.
  • To operate to the correct procedures for machine operation, safety, quality and hygiene.
  • Take part in tiered meetings and have an active role in the boards as part of Supply Chain Excellence.

  • Basic numerical and literacy knowledge

Desirable:

  • Previous experience is desirable but not essential, as we provide training.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and of HACCP and safe systems of work
  • Understand zonal Key Performance Indicators (production targets, waste levels and line performance)
  • To achieve planned output within specification.
  • To maximise plant efficiency and to minimise TOS and waste.
  • To maximise the labour utilisation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and meet hygiene standards at all times.
  • To develop line operatives in line with company best practice.
  • Provide a strong and co-ordinated link with all production processes on the line.
  • Support the Section Leaders in the introduction and support of any improvement initiatives.

What does the recruitment process consist of?

  • Assessments – Swift Comprehensive Aptitude assessment along with a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 45–60 minutes to complete.
  • Interview – 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience.
