What will this role achieve? The Business Development Manager will have full ownership of the M&S P&L worth £6m, the majority of which is retailer own label business, as well as the Sainsbury’s Own Label business worth a further c. £14m. The role will report into the Sainsburys team as well as work closely with the head of the Own Label team. At pladis, you get the chance to fast-track your career, to do things bigger, better and faster and be a member of a leading sales team where challenging the norm is good.

The hard working UK Sales Team at pladis employs approximately 150 people across functions including account management, category management and customer marketing. The Team coordinates the delivery of the commercial budgets across the UK, split into three channels: Grocery; Convenience & Impulse; and Discounters.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Full end to end Account Management of M&S account – (currently 95% Private label 5% Branded) covering Sweet & Savoury biscuits and C&S plus Sainsburys Own Label portfolio across the same categories.
  • Land business targets on Net Sales and Profit for both M&S and Sainsbury’s Own Label.
  • Organise & lead the M&S quarterly performance meetings covering performance & innovation proposals.
  • Work with wider pladis projects & SQSE teams to share Technical / Legislation updates.
  • Partner closely with the internal Own Label team to identify and unlock new opportunities aligning with customer strategies.
  • Champion those initiatives to ensure we deliver the best outcomes for your customers.
  • Be responsible for the contact strategy with buyers on a weekly basis and ensuring the full year plans is implemented.
  • Ensuring all customer admin is completed on time and in full.
  • Raise the profile of M&S strategy and growth internally and to ensure pladis continue to support their agenda.
  • Own the sales forecast and ensure the forecast accuracy is met to business targets.

What do you need for this role?

Essential
  • Experience in a customer facing role within FMCG.
  • FMCG experience, ideally with a large grocer.
  • Working autonomously and as part of a team towards business set targets.
  • Strong problem solving and solution orientated.
  • Logical mind and eye strong for detail.
  • Good financial and commercial ability.
  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint & presentation skills.
Desirable
  • Experience in Impulse categories.
  • Retailer Own Brand Experience.
