About the role

PK Education are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Newcastle from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated HLTA who enjoys supporting children’s learning, building positive relationships, and making a real difference in the classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils’ progress, deliver engaging learning activities, and provide support across a range of year groups. You will be confident working independently, leading small group sessions, and stepping into the classroom when required.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support teaching and learning across the primary age range
  • Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to individuals and small groups
  • Cover classes and lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher when required
  • Support pupils with a range of abilities and additional needs
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff to support pupil progress
  • Provide feedback on pupil learning and achievement
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations
Job Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as an HLTA desirable
  • HLTA qualification or relevant experience delivering learning activities independently
  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Strong understanding of child development and effective learning strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for supporting children’s education and development
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to complete the required checks)
  • Right to work in the UK
