This role sits within the Regulatory Transaction Reporting Technology team and partners closely with the Regulatory Transaction Reporting Operations function. The position focuses on business analysis, requirements definition, testing, solution delivery support, and production issue analysis across PIMCO's global transaction reporting platforms supporting MiFID II, EMIR, ASIC, MAS, SFTR, and other global regulatory reporting obligations.
The successful candidate will work with business partners to gather requirements, analyse business processes, support testing activities, investigate production issues, and help deliver technology enhancements that improve reporting quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The role is designed with broad visibility, end-to-end accountability, and increasing scope to manage, own and independently execute regulatory reporting solutions that provide broad exposure to regulatory reporting workflows, technology modernization initiatives, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities across the regulatory reporting ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Analysis, Requirements Definition & Validation
- Lead key workstreams in a multi-year program to modernize PIMCO’s global regulatory transaction reporting platform.
- Partner with Regulatory Operations and external vendors to translate regulatory obligations, operational processes, and reporting needs into business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate working sessions and requirements discussions to clarify scope, business rules, data requirements, and desired outcomes.
- Create process flows, workflow documentation, business rules, data mapping artifacts, and other supporting analysis materials.
- Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle to support successful implementation of new capabilities and enhancements.
- Develop test scenarios, test cases, and validation approaches for technology enhancements and regulatory reporting changes.
- Coordinate testing activities with Regulatory Operations, Engineering, and other business stakeholders.
- Assist with defect triage, issue analysis, and resolution activities.
- Support release validation and post-implementation verification efforts to confirm changes operate as intended.
- Production Support & Operational Analysis
- Lead production issue triage for regulatory transaction reporting systems, coordinating across operations, engineering, and vendors.
- Act as a primary escalation point for complex or systemic reporting issues, ensuring root cause is identified and remediation plans are defined and tracked.
- Own tracking and reporting of errors, omissions, resubmissions, and structural reporting challenges in collaboration with operations teams.
- Help define and continuously improve support models, SLAs, and RACI matrices across technology and operations.
- Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Support initiatives focused on automation, workflow optimization, reporting quality improvements, and control enhancement.
- Participate in modernization initiatives across the regulatory reporting technology landscape.
- Contribute to the evaluation of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, that may enhance reporting processes and operational workflows.
- Planning & Stakeholder Communications
- Support planning, coordination, and execution activities across regulatory reporting initiatives and technology enhancements.
- Help maintain clarity on scope, priorities, dependencies, and delivery status for assigned work items.
- Prepare clear analysis summaries, requirement walkthroughs, and executive updates for business leadership.
- Contribute to intake, prioritization, and sequencing discussions of the book of work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Functional Analyst, or comparable role within financial services technology.
- Strong experience gathering, documenting, and validating business and functional requirements.
- Experience facilitating discussions with business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience supporting software development initiatives throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience creating process flows, workflow documentation, business rules, functional specifications, user stories, or acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with one or more regulatory reporting regimes, including MiFID II, EMIR, ASIC, MAS, SFTR, or other G20 reporting frameworks.
- Experience working in regulated financial services environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within asset management, capital markets, investment banking, or market infrastructure organizations.
- Understanding of transaction reporting workflows and regulatory reporting operating models.
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing and release validation activities.
- Familiarity with SQL, data analysis, reconciliations, or data lineage analysis.
- Understanding of derivatives, securities trading, post-trade processing, reference data, and trade capture concepts.
- Experience working with regulatory reporting vendors, repositories, or reporting platforms.
