An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Solicitor with 5-10 years PQE to join a highly regarded Large Loss team within a leading insurance litigation practice in Belfast. This role offers exposure to some of the most complex, high-value and sensitive claims in the market, including catastrophic injury and fatal accident matters. The successful candidate will work closely with a Lead Lawyer on headline cases while also managing their own caseload of significant claims, typically valued between £100,000 and £250,000. This is a role suited to an ambitious solicitor who enjoys technical challenge, responsibility and clear progression within a collaborative, high-performing team. The role offers a competitive salary of up to £65,000, reflecting experience and skill.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Lawyer on complex High Court and catastrophic injury claims, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and fatal accident cases
- Manage your own caseload of high-value, multi-track injury claims from instruction through to resolution
- Provide clear, strategic and technically robust advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation
- Analyse complex medical, expert and financial evidence to identify key issues and inform case strategy
- Draft pleadings, witness statements and detailed technical reports
- Conduct witness interviews and attend conferences, mediations and Joint Settlement Meetings
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior claims handlers and insurer clients
- Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to their ongoing development
- Ensure accurate and compliant case management in line with LSNI requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
- Qualified Solicitor with 5-10 years PQE, ideally in large loss or complex injury litigation
- Strong understanding of indemnity, liability and quantum
- Demonstrable experience handling high-value or technically complex claims
- Confidence working with medical and expert evidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify trends and anomalies
- Commercial, client-focused approach with confidence dealing with senior stakeholders
- Calm, organised and proactive working style, even under pressure
