Role Description

This full‑time Housing Litigation Solicitor role is based in the City of London on a hybrid working arrangement, combining office‑based work with some flexibility to work from home.

The role involves managing a caseload of housing litigation matters, including possession proceedings, disrepair claims, landlord and tenant disputes, and related civil litigation issues.

The role also includes contributing to business development, maintaining accurate file records, and supporting colleagues across related practice areas where housing issues intersect with family, employment, or commercial disputes.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales): Must hold current SRA qualification and practising certificate. (approximately 3+ years PQE).

Experience in employment law is also desirable, particularly in advisory and dispute‑related matters.

Caseload: Handle a full range of litigation matters from start to finish.

Typical cases include possession proceedings and eviction claims, unlawful eviction and tenant protection claims, rent arrears recovery, housing disrepair, tenancy deposit disputes and other related litigation dispute matters.

You will advise and represent both landlords and tenants, ensuring their rights are protected and obligations met.

  • Additional Experience (Desirable): Other dispute resolution matters would be advantageous or experience in Family Law where housing concerns arise in relation to relationship breakdown, domestic abuse, or child arrangements.

Handling: Take responsibility for your own caseload, providing sound legal advice.

You will negotiate settlements, draft and review legal documents, and proactively drive cases toward successful resolutions while maintaining the highest professional standards.

  • Case Management Skills: Ability to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent organisational skills and sound judgment.
  • Supervision & Team

Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

You will supervise their work, foster their development, and ensure quality control on matters you oversee.

  • Client Care & Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients, from private individuals to property managers and corporate landlords.

Offer exemplary client care with regular updates and clear, pragmatic advice.

  • Compliance & Knowledge

Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in housing law and landlord & tenant legislation.

Ensure all activities comply with SRA standards and other regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, maintain professional client relationships, and handle a busy, varied caseload.
