Deputy Manager - Therapeutic Children's Home £40,000 per year | 40 hours per week | Permanent Location: Pevensey Benefits - Deputy Manager £40,000 salary £60 per sleep-in, approximately 6 per month Paid therapeutic training for all staff Paid induction and mandatory training 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays DBS paid by the employer Laptop and mobilephone provided Workplace pension Opportunity to help build and shape a brand-new children's home from the ground up Join while the home is nearing completion of its Ofsted registration process About the home This is a brand-new children's home built around a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach. The service will support children who may have experienced trauma, disruption, attachment difficulties and emotional or behavioural challenges. Therapeutic practice will be central to the way the home operates, with all staff receiving training to help them understand behaviour as communication and respond to children with calm, consistent and nurturing support. The Role We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to work alongside the Registered Manager and help establish and run the home in Pevensey. Deputy Manager's Responsibilities Support the day-to-day running of the home and deputise for the Registered Manager. Lead by example and promote calm, consistent and child-centred practice. Support and develop the staff team through induction, supervision and reflective practice. Work directly with children and build safe, trusting and appropriately boundaried relationships. Support children with routines, education, activities, family time and emotional regulation. Use trauma-informed approaches, de-escalation and co-regulation when responding to distress or challenging behaviour. Support safeguarding, risk assessments, care planning and accurate record keeping. Work with social workers, education, health professionals and other agencies. Contribute to Ofsted readiness and help establish strong standards within the home. About you You will ideally have: Experience working in a residential children's home or similar setting. Experience supporting children affected by trauma, attachment difficulties or emotional and behavioural needs. Experience leading shifts or supporting staff. Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience. Experience with care plans, risk assessments and professional recording. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent relevant qualification. A good understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour as communication. The ability to remain calm and emotionally steady under pressure. A child-centred approach and the ability to build warm but professional relationships.
