Position: EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Coordinator Location: Stevenage (with some travel); full clean UK driving license required Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (DOE) Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, company sick pay, flexible benefits This role involves leading a proactive and supportive culture around EHS and wellbeing. Key responsibilities include offering guidance on EHS compliance and best practices, ensuring alignment with safety standards, and maintaining adherence to ISO frameworks (9001, 14001, 45001) and other relevant regulations. The position requires managing and investigating EHS incidents and near-misses, identifying hazards, updating risk registers, and escalating risks as needed. The coordinator will work closely with line management on sustainability goals, such as enhancing energy efficiency and reducing waste. In this collaborative role, you’ll develop trusted relationships with operational teams, clients, and partners to deliver effective EHS management. Responsibilities also include supporting pre-audit reviews, client audits, and EHS-related assessments, as well as ensuring that all safety-related submissions for industry accreditations are completed accurately and on time. Additionally, you’ll identify and deliver necessary EHS training to maintain competency levels across the team and support occupational health initiatives, including risk assessments. A significant part of the role involves reviewing and updating EHS policies and safe work systems to ensure their suitability and compliance. You’ll lead various assurance activities as per the established framework and engage with Community of Practice meetings to collaboratively address health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental objectives. Ideal candidates hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent, have training or familiarity with ISO standards, and possess a minimum of three years of experience in a health and safety-related role, ideally within a regulated environment. Membership with IOSH and auditor training or experience are also beneficial. Familiarity with CDM2015 and the BS 5975 Temporary Works Standard, along with a comprehensive understanding of EHS and risk management, will be essential. Candidates should possess strong communication and networking skills, and the ability to work methodically while managing EHS priorities independently. A supportive and empowering leadership style is essential, as is the ability to inspire and guide teams. Proficiency in IT is also required.
