I'm recruiting for a Senior Web Designer to join a successful independent digital agency in Birmingham. This is a genuinely hands-on web design opportunity for somebody who wants real ownership.

You'll be responsible for design and UX across new websites, rebuilds and conversion-focused redesign projects, taking work from initial brief and wireframes through to client presentation and final sign-off. You'll be the main design specialist within the business, so this would suit somebody confident making and explaining design decisions rather than looking for a senior designer to work underneath.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design original, responsive websites from initial brief through to sign-off
  • Create wireframes and prototypes in Figma or similar
  • Apply strong UX and conversion principles across journeys, forms, CTAs and page structures
  • Present concepts directly to clients and confidently explain the thinking behind design decisions
  • Manage several website projects simultaneously and work closely with the wider digital team

What I'm looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years' commercial web design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating your own original website designs
  • Strong understanding of UX, usability and conversion-focused design
  • Confident client-facing communication and presentation skills
  • Experience taking feedback and managing design revisions through to approval
  • WordPress experience would be useful, although this is not a developer role.
  • The agency increasingly uses AI within its website-build process, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a modern AI-assisted environment.

Birmingham city centre | Hybrid Office Monday, Tuesday & Thursday | Home Wednesday & Friday £30,000-£40,000

Benefits include: 30 days' annual leave, birthday off, wellbeing day, additional performance-based leave and a generous equipment budget. Portfolio is essential. Applications without examples of original website design cannot be considered.
