Supply Technician

You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Hazardous Material Control and Management Program of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties:

• You will ensure ship inventory is properly maintained and all materials meet shipboard specifications.
• You will coordinate shipboard personnel hazardous material training.
• You will investigate problems as they occur, recommend resolutions and report to the chain of command.
• You will coordinate ordering and delivery of HAZMAT materials.
• You will train and assist with offload/disposal of excess material and the preparation of transfer documents.

Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift license.
• You will complete the afloat HAZMAT coordinator, HMCM Technician, and CHRIMP/HICS technician courses within 6 months of employment.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This is a Mission Essential position.
• This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential.

Qualifications:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Utilizing knowledge and application of supply chain management and software to provide logistical support for services such as receiving, shipping, distribution and delivery of services and materials.
• Complying with Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) storage requirements and regulations, labeling, and procedures.
• Maintaining shipment of inventory and inspecting materials for compliance with regulations.
• Resolving discrepancies within inventory management and customer service.
• Utilizing automated systems for inventorying and recording records.

Education:

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: I have successfully completed one full year of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
