Moog Aircraft Group Tewkesbury is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the development, qualification, and certification of advanced aerospace components used on some of the world's most demanding military and commercial aircraft programmes. Working within a highly capable multidisciplinary engineering team, you will lead complex technical activities from concept through to certification, helping to bring innovative products into service. As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will act as a technical focal point across product development programmes, providing engineering leadership throughout the development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading engineering activities from concept development through detailed design, validation, qualification, and certification.
- Translating customer requirements into robust engineering solutions, compliance strategies, and validation plans.
- Supporting the design and development of high-performance electrohydraulic aerospace components.
- Planning and coordinating technical activities to achieve programme objectives, schedules, and budgets.
- Leading technical investigations and problem-solving activities to resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Coordinating development and qualification testing, including fatigue, vibration, thermal, pressure, and performance testing.
- Conducting technical trade studies and design reviews to support informed engineering decisions.
- Working closely with manufacturing, quality, test, programme management, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product delivery.
- Supporting customer meetings, technical reviews, and programme presentations.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to developing engineers.
- Supporting airworthiness and regulatory compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle.
Essential qualifications include:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Significant aerospace engineering experience, typically 8+ years.
- Experience leading technical activities throughout a structured product development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of verification, validation, and qualification testing.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven problem-solving and investigation skills.
- Experience working within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Knowledge of EASA Part 21 and airworthiness requirements.
- Experience with hydraulic or electrohydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with APQP or equivalent product development methodologies.
- Experience using Siemens NX or similar CAD software.
- Understanding of GD&T principles.
- Experience with Mathcad, CFD, FEA, or other engineering analysis tools.
- Understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
- Project planning experience, including MS Project.
- Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
