We are looking for a

Grid Compliance Engineer responsible for ensuring that renewable energy and energy storage projects comply with UK Grid Codes, ENA Engineering Recommendations (particularly G99/G100), and DNO/NESO requirements from early development through commissioning.

The role will act as the internal technical authority for grid compliance, managing compliance strategies, overseeing grid studies, and leading technical submissions to network operators.

This position is key to minimising project risk, securing timely approvals, and supporting successful project delivery.

Your Role will encompass

  • Grid Compliance Management
  • Act as the company’s technical authority for grid compliance across UK projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ENA G99/G100, UK Grid Code, and DNO/IDNO/NESO requirements.
  • Interpret connection offers and agreements and translate them into compliance strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK grid regulations.
  • Grid Studies & Technical Assessments
  • Define and manage grid compliance studies, including load flow, fault level, dynamic, and harmonic studies.
  • Review and validate outputs from external consultants.
  • Ensure alignment between study assumptions and project design.
  • Identify risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Applications, Submissions & Approvals
  • Lead G99 applications (Stages 1–3) with DNOs and Compliance Processes (ONCCs) with NESO.
  • Coordinate compliance reports, protection studies, and commissioning plans.
  • Interface with DNOs, IDNOs, and NESO to secure approvals.
  • Track approvals and resolve technical issues or delays.
  • Coordination & Stakeholder management
  • Act as the main interface with network operators, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Ensure grid compliance requirements are aligned with project design.
  • Support internal teams in understanding and meeting compliance obligations.
  • Project Delivery Support
  • Support development, design, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are embedded in project execution plans.
  • Support commissioning and grid compliance testing.
  • Risk Management & Assurance
  • Identify and manage grid compliance risks.
  • Ensure projects meet connection agreement obligations before energisation.
  • Support technical reviews and continuous improvement.

What you bring to the role

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with experience in UK grid compliance within renewables, ICP, DNO, or consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of G99/G100, UK Grid Code, and DNO/NESO processes, with experience managing grid applications and compliance studies.
  • Experience with grid compliance testing and tools such as DIg SILENT, ETAP, IPSA, or PSCAD would be beneficial.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
